DENPASAR- , Mei, 16, 2026* – The Chairman of the National Association of Interreligious Harmony Forums FKUB Indonesia, Ida Pangelingsir Agung Putra Sukahet, has commended the upcoming Twin Temple Festival 2026 organized by the Interreligious Harmony Forum of Klaten Regency in collaboration with the Klaten Regency Government.
The festival will take place on May 22–23, 2026, at Sewu Temple and Plaosan Temple in Bugisan Village, Prambanan, Klaten. Held under the theme “Makara”, the event will bring together religious leaders, community figures, and local potential from Bugisan Village.
Ida Pangelingsir Agung Putra Sukahet described the initiative as a practical model of grassroots peacebuilding rooted in history.
“Plaosan Temple has shown for 1,200 years that Buddhists and Hindus can live side by side. FKUB Klaten is reviving that value through an interfaith festival that directly engages the community. This is what Indonesia needs today—not just discourse, but concrete actions that touch the economy, culture, and youth,” he said.
He noted three key strengths making the festival a potential national model: strong collaboration between village, sub-district, and regency governments with FKUB and community elements; a foundation in history and local wisdom using the Sewu and Plaosan temple sites as spaces for dialogue; and a sustainable program continued through the Plaosan Youth Harmony Forum.
The Acting Regional Secretary of Klaten Regency Jaka Purwanto also expressed full support, stating that the festival is ready to be developed into an international-scale event.
“The Twin Temple Festival in Bugisan Village, Prambanan Klaten will become an international-scale event based on history for harmony,” said the Acting Regional Secretary Jaka Purwanto during a coordination meeting with FKUB Klaten.

Global Historical Value: Sewu and Plaosan Temples are 9th-century sites demonstrating a tradition of Buddhist-Hindu tolerance, relevant for world civilizations dialogue.
Infrastructure Support: The location near Prambanan Temple ensures easy access for domestic and international visitors.
Community Engagement: The Klaten Regency Government will involve local MSMEs, art groups, and youth from Bugisan Village to ensure direct economic benefits.
The Klaten Regency Government, through the Tourism and Culture Office, will facilitate permits, security, and promotion, including leveraging sister city networks.
He expressed hope that the festival would be included in Indonesia’s official submission for the 2026 International Harmony Week in Manado, to be reported to the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations.
“The National FKUB Association will document this good practice and share it with FKUBs in 38 provinces as a learning reference,” Ida Pangelingsir added.
The Chairman of FKUB Klaten, KH. Syamsuddin Asyrofi, welcomed the support. He stated that backing from both the national association and the regency government motivates FKUB Klaten to ensure the festival remains inclusive, safe, and beneficial for the Bugisan community. ( Moch.Isnaeni )
